When the new baseball season rolls around (and it starts in February) at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, the field will be new as well. Much to the horror of some baseball purists, the Gateway Grizzlies are in the process of installing synthetic turf at the stadium. “Everything will be synthetic, the warning track, the infield, around home plate,” said Jeff O’Neill, events manager and media relations director for the Grizzlies. “It should be an interesting look.”
