Applicants will have until 5:30 pm EST on Friday, November 18, 2011 to complete the Annual Grant Application. The application will only be available online, and must be submitted via the US Soccer Foundation's website.

US Soccer Foundation opens grant cycle October 17

On Monday, October 17, 2011 the U.S. Soccer Foundation will open its 2012 Annual Grant Cycle. Applicants will have until 5:30 pm EST on Friday, November 18, 2011 to complete the Annual Grant Application. The application will only be available online, and must be submitted via the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s website. The application will not be available to view until the October 17 start date. The following information outlines the general guidelines and expectations required by the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Annual Grants Program. Applications will be accepted for:

1. Field Building Grants:

Footprint Field Grants – Footprint Field Grants will be awarded for the installation of a synthetic field surface from FieldTurf. This funding can be applied toward both new field construction and the upgrading of existing fields with a synthetic field surface.
Sport Court Grants – Sport Court is an innovative modular (non-turf) sports surface that delivers superior playability, speed, safety, shock absorption, and traction that is perfect for small-sided soccer or futsal. With its engineering-grade polypropylene surface, a Sport Court is quick to install and can be easily customized to fit the needs of your soccer project.
Sports Lighting Grants – Lighting options from Musco Sports Lighting.
Irrigation Grants – Irrigation products from Hunter Industries and Ewing Irrigation and Landscaping.

2. Program Grants:

Player and Team Equipment Grants – Supplied through Eurosport, equipment options include cleats, shin guards, uniforms, pop-up or portable goals, soccer balls, cones, etc.
PEVO Grants – Soccer goal products from PEVO.
General Program/Operational Cost Grants – May include transportation/travel costs (excludes expenses for professional games), facility rental costs, training costs, evaluation costs, or staff/coach stipends.

Grant Amounts:


While these figures indicate the maximum amount of grant money awarded, we ask that you please request an accurate amount that realistically represents your organization’s need and budget capacity.

All types of Program Grants – up to $50,000
Footprint Field Grants – up to $200,000
Sport Court Grants – up to $65,000
Sports Lighting Grants – up to $50,000
Irrigation Grants – up to $15,000

To be eligible for a Field Building Grant, you must:

Apply on behalf of a program or project operating in the United States
Be a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, school, municipality, college or university, or sovereign tribal nation
Apply as, or on behalf of a field building project
Own, or have a minimum of a 10 year land lease/land use agreement on the land where the field building project will take place
If applying for Sports Lighting, you must have written documentation from the community where the field building project is located, authorizing the addition of lights to the field(s)

To be eligible for a Program Grant, you must:

Apply on behalf of a program or project operating in the United States
Be a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, school, municipality, college or university, or sovereign tribal nation
Apply as, or on behalf of a soccer specific program

The U.S. Soccer Foundation will hold Grant Q&A Calls, to assist those interested in applying with any questions regarding the 2012 Annual Grant Cycle. Field Enhancement Q&A Call: Sports Lighting and Irrigation Grants: Monday, October 3, 2011 @ 2:00 pm EST – this call will provide the opportunity to ask representatives from Musco Sports Lighting, Hunter Industries, and Ewing Irrigation and Landscaping any qustions you may have about grants that cover sports lighting and irrigation.
Program Grants Q&A Call: Thursday, October 6, 2011 @ 2:00 pm EST – this call will provide the opportunity to ask a representative from Eurosport any questions you may have about Program Grants.
Field Building Q&A Call: Footprint Fields and Sport Court Grants: Friday, October 7, 2011 @ 2:00 pm EST – this call will provide the opportunity to ask representatives from FieldTurf, Sport Court, and CHA Sports any questions you may have about field building grants.
