Matt Whalen, superintendent, Cheyenne Country Club, Cheyenne, Wyo., is the winner of the Think Ahead Sweepstakes, and will be traveling to the Open Championship at Royal St. George’s. During the week-long trip, Whalen will have the opportunity to meet the head greenskeeper and staff at Royal St. George’s, and mingle with some of the most respected greenskeepers in Great Britain. In addition, Whalen will play Bearwood Lakes, one of the top 100 golf courses in Great Britain and receive a tour of the facility.

The sweepstakes was open from Jan. 13 through May 31. By watching a video on the John Deere Golf website, or taking a brief tour of
the John Deere booth at the Golf Industry Show (GIS), golf course industry professionals could enter the sweepstakes for a chance to win one of five iPads, and an opportunity to attend the Open Championship at Royal St. George’s.
