Sports Construction Group L.L.C. (SCG), a leading builder of both natural and synthetic turf athletic fields, has begun construction of a new synthetic turf system at Youngstown State University’s Stambaugh Stadium.
SCG will install a Shaw Sportexe PowerBlade HP+ synthetic turf system, which combines the appearance of natural grass with the engineered performance of modern synthetic turf. It is specially designed to enhance player speed and performance while providing for maximum player safety.
Stambaugh Stadium seats 20,630 and has been home to the Penguins since the early 1980s. The multipurpose complex serves the YSU football team, which holds four national titles in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision, and also hosts varsity soccer games and intramural events.
In addition, SCG recently installed Shaw Sportexe PowerBlade HP+ synthetic turf on YSU’s Watson and Tressel Training Site, an indoor practice facility for the football team.
