The Oregon Chapter of the STMA recently had a board meeting @ the Delta Park Office of the City of Portland Parks January 26th 2011.
On the agenda was electing new officers. Debbie Kneeshaw of City of Portland Parks Delta Complex is stepping down from President to the Past President position and Jason Moore CSFM of Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation formerly the Chapters Treasurer is stepping up to President position. Filling in the Treasures position is Damon Crume from Willamalane Parks in Springfield and the Secretary position will be filled by Robert DeAngelo from Target Specialties. John Rector of Ewing Irrigation has filled in the open seat of Commercial Vice President. Other board positions that remained the same were Mike Hebrard of Athletic Field Design as Communication Chair, Meeting Arrangement Chair will be Gary Willis of Pro Turf Solutions. Steve Heldt of City of Hillsboro Parks will go from the Secretary position to By Laws Chair and Rob Golembiewski of Oregon State University Turfgrass Sciences will Chair the Education Committee.
Membership Committee will consist of Damon Richardson of Pacific Sports Turf and Daley Wiley of Sunmark Sports. Retaining their board positions are Mike Duarte and Steve Gies as the VP’s/regional reps Central and Southern Oregon respectively Over 20 current and new members were in attendance. Topics on the agenda were 2011 Chapter Officers Training Session @ the recent National STMA Conference in Austin Texas attended by Mike Hebrard, Mike’s Transitions article about Nike and Alpenrose in SportsFields Management also was released in January. Alpenrose was the site of the Chapters Volunteer Day to work on the fields in preparation of the Little League Softball World Series. National Conference highlights such as Oregon’s Barenbrug receives Innovation Award for RPR® at STMA Show. Oregon member Russ Hayworth of Hayworth Seed share with the group about his involvement with the recent Bowl game in the Phoenix area and his preparation of overseeding 10 practice sites and field painting as well as weather related problems.
