Frans Jager, CEO of PrimeraTurf Inc. (www.primeraturf.coop), announced his retirement from
the company effective September 30, 2011. Frans Jager has provided leadership for
PrimeraTurf since April of 2001 and has been its Chief Executive Officer since October 1,
2001.
PrimeraTurf’s Chairman of the Board, Kenneth J. Clemmer stated, “We thank Frans for his dedication and hard work over the past ten years. His vision and direction helped form the cooperative to what it is today, a cooperative of 50 Independent Distributors, operating nationwide. He has worked tirelessly to help PrimeraTurf reach new levels while positioning us for future growth. His retirement is well deserved. Our search for his replacement will be launched early in 2011. We expect a new CEO to be named at our Annual Meeting in July in
Minneapolis.”
Prior to 2000, Mr. Jager served as Vice President Supply Chain Management for Lesco (now
John Deere Landscapes) from 1992 – 2000. In his earlier career he has held executive management positions with several companies in the fertilizer industry. Mr. Jager is a citizen of the Netherlands who first came to the USA in 1976 as an ex-patriate for Norsk Hydro, then the world’s largest fertilizer producer. He holds a degree in Corporate Law from Erasmus University in Rotterdam. He served as an officer in the Royal Dutch Air Force.
Frans resides in the Cleveland, Ohio area with his wife Christie. His career experience made him uniquely suited for the PrimeraTurf challenge.
PrimeraTurf is a major purchasing cooperative for independently owned companies engaged in distribution of products for the professional turf, horticulture and landscape industry.It was founded in 2000 by three Virginia distributors, for the purpose of enhancing the business of the member owners with innovative collective action in areas of procurement, branding, information and education.
