Throughout the 2010 football season, for the Purdue Boilermakers’ seven home games, fans recycled some 33,800 pounds, or nearly 17 tons of mixed recyclables and cardboard. This year’s per capita total of 9.95 tops that of both 2009 (7.47) and 2008 (8.79), with a 33% increase from 2009 to 2010.


“We put an added emphasis on recycling this year with the addition of a group of people to go out among our fans to inform them about our collecting containers and also pick up items,” said Al Capitos, who oversees Ross-Ade Stadium recycling as sports turf and maintenance superintendent for Purdue athletics.
