The Minnesota Vikings are accepting applications for an Athletic Turf Internship for the summer 2011 turf season. We will be hiring up to three interns. The Internships will run from May to August 2011 or May to the end of the growing season (October/November 2011). This internship includes all aspects of professional football field maintenance at the Viking’s Winter Park practice facility in Eden Prairie, Minnesota and may include projects at our Training Camp in Mankato, MN or Mall of America Field located at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, MN.
The scope of work will include, but is not limited to: sodding, mowing, overseeding, irrigation management, fertilization, field layout, painting and topdressing.
Job Description:
• Intern will perform landscape maintenance including; mowing, fertilizing, trimming, weed management, irrigation and pruning
• Intern will operate small landscape machinery including lawnmowers, trimmers and other miscellaneous equipment
• Intern may perform general maintenance to landscape equipment – filling gas, change oil/fluids and adding lubricants
• Intern may perform other facility and building maintenance as needed
• The turf season requires working long hours, including weekends
Required education/skills:
• Experience/education in turfgrass management as it relates to athletic fields
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• The Intern must be able to lift up to (at least 50 lbs.) and operate heavy machinery
