Online pump selection program

Oftentimes, the most challenging part of upgrading a pumping system is determining what is the perfect pump for an application. Griswold Pump Company has a way to simplify that selection process with its Online Pump Selection Program. The program—which can be found at http://www.griswoldpump.com/html/pumpsel.htm—allows end-users to select and evaluate the best pump for their specific needs.

The first step of the program is listing the pump’s operating requirements. These parameters are established by identifying the pump’s design point (head and flow), along with its synchronous speeds. After determining these operating requirements, they can be entered into the Online Pump Selection program, which uses the parameters to perform a search and create a list of all the Griswold pumps that meet the requirements. This list can be sorted by pump size, NPSHr, efficiency and power consumption to create additional comparison points.

After creating a list of pumps, the program will generate a performance curve that shows pump head, efficiency, horsepower and NPSHr as a function of flow rate. Additional information can also be displayed, such as impeller diameter, speed, shutoff head, maximum horsepower, best efficiency point, minimum flow, motor data and much more. The selection can be further refined by selecting the type of product to be pumped from a drop-down list of more than 120 chemicals. Specific gravity, viscosity and temperature can also be specified to further narrow the potential pump choices.

Once the correct pump is found, the user can click on the Pump Selection prompt, login and select the pump to be purchased. All selections can be saved, printed or e-mailed so a record of the purchase—and any past purchases—is easily retrievable and reviewable.
