John Rowland named field development representative for Bayer Environmental Science

Bayer Environmental Science (BES) recently named John Rowland Ph.D. field development representative for the southwestern region of the U.S., serving New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana.


“We are excited to add John to the Bayer team. He brings an incredible breadth and depth of knowledge that is a combination of his academic studies and real-world experience,” said Terry Gouge, director of product development. “John’s informed insight is a tremendous asset and will be a great help as Bayer continues to explore leading chemistries.”


With more than 20 years of field experience, Rowland works with regional cooperators and leading researchers to test new products being developed. In his new role, Rowland is responsible for development activities in the turf and ornamental, pest control, industrial vegetation management, and vector control segments.


“Bayer is an excellent organization that is at the forefront of product development.  I look forward to using my experience to push its chemistries even further and continuing to help develop products that give our customers the best results,” said Rowland.


Prior to joining Bayer ES, Rowland was president of an agronomic consulting firm and golf course superintendent at International Links of Miami.  Rowland received his doctoral and master’s degrees in Soil & Water Science from the University of Florida, where he also received a bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Science.  He is a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, International Turfgrass Society, American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and Soil Science Society of America.  Rowland is currently based in Austin, TX, and can be reached via email at john.rowland@bayercropscience.com.
