Judge will not block new turf at Metrodome

A Hennepin County Judge has refused a request from the former supplier of turf in the Metrodome to stop the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission from installing a competitor’s product.The lawsuit, filed by Peachtree, Ga.-based FieldTurf USA Inc. last month in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis, might have prevented the Minnesota Vikings from getting the new playing surface in time for the start of the 2010 season.The suit says that the MSFC’s selection of a product from competing turf-maker Sportexe was “arbitrary and capricious” and asked the court to declare FieldTurf the proper awardee of the contract. It was seeking a temporary restraining order to block Sportexe from proceeding with the planned turf replacement in July.
