The American Sports Builders Association (ASBA), the national organization for builders, designers and suppliers of materials for tennis courts, running tracks, synthetic turf fields and indoor and outdoor synthetic sports surfaces, has announced the opening of its awards program for 2010. The program recognizes excellence in athletic facility design and construction. The application documents, available to members only, are now available on the Association’s web site, www.sportsbuilders.org. Deadline for submissions is June 21, 2010.

New this year is a special “Green Facility Award.” ASBA will select one project from the winners in all categories in recognition of its ecologically sensitive design and construction, and its attention to earth-friendly details such as use of drought-resistant or sustainable plantings in landscaping, sustainable materials and energy-saving features.
In order to be considered eligible for entry in the ASBA awards program, projects must have been completed within the current year or within the previous two calendar years (ending Dec. 31 prior to the application deadline). The company entering the project must be a member of the American Sports Builders Association. (Information on membership in the Association is available at the website of www.sportsbuilders.org).
