Robotic mower makes history

Precise Path Robotics says that history has been made with one of their robotic units being put into active duty rotation at an operational golf course.

The RG3 is mowing at Bonita Bay’s Cypress course in Naples, Fla., and the course recently hosted a local pro-am tourney with greens mowed by the RG3.

Precise path says the unit is being deployed at 6 a.m. — in pitch dark — at the same time as the triplexes. According to a Precise Path release, Cypress superintendent Scott Brinckerhoff says he sees “great potential for increasing labor productivity and efficiencies without sacrificing quality and aesthetics.”

The RG3 was tested on the course in 2009, mowing more than 3 million square feet of greens on a variety of contours.
