Vitt Sale returns to Wight & Company

Wight & Company, a leader in integrated architecture, engineering and construction solutions and nationally recognized for sustainable design, announced today that Lois Vitt Sale, AIA, LEED® AP, has rejoined the company as senior vice president, chief sustainability officer.


“Lois brings international recognition as a leader in sustainable design, invaluable expertise in environmentally sound building practices, and demonstrates our continued dedication to producing responsible design and construction projects for our clients,” said Mark Wight, chairman and chief executive officer at Wight & Company. “Lois has a strong understanding of Wight’s integrated solutions model and green objectives which makes her a great addition to our company that has a long and storied heritage in environmental sustainability. Lois will help us continue to lead the way into the future of sustainability.” 


Vitt Sale will continue Wight’s work in ensuring its clients have access to the latest thinking in sustainable solutions, tailored specifically to fit their environmental priorities. Vitt Sale’s career has spanned over 20 years, through which she has developed an acute ability to capture clients’ vision and programmatic needs while creating environmentally responsible design solutions. She has remained at the forefront of the evolution of the green movement facilitating the integration of sustainability into the built environment. Vitt Sale also has contributed to the development of policy that has resulted in more sustainable building solutions, many of those in partnership with Wight & Company, and across the globe. Her return to Wight strengthens three key areas of service for the company, including:


·       The development of leading edge sustainable designs.


·       A sustainable design consultancy to help maximize the environmental potential for projects.


·       Consultancy on policies and programs to assist jurisdictions in the creation of more progressive sustainable practices.


 


Aside from practicing architecture, Vitt Sale is adjunct faculty at Northwestern University’s Master of Project Management program where she has taught courses in sustainable construction since 2003. She also is actively involved with the US Green Building Council (USGBC) as a past chairperson of the Chicago chapter and current co-chairperson of the Host Committee for the Greenbuild 2010 Conference. Vitt Sale was also an integral part of the CDB Green Design & Construction Seminar, participated in a Green Building Trade Mission to China, was a member of the Illinois Climate Change Advisory Group, and Policy Committee for Green Roofs for Healthy Cities. Additionally, she was a guest speaker for the American Embassy in Berlin where she spent a week touring cities across Germany lecturing on “Integrating Environment into Urban Infrastructure in the U.S.A.”

Prior to rejoining Wight, Vitt Sale was director of sustainability at Nelson and the sole proprietor of Phoenix Architects, Inc.


 


Vitt Sale is a licensed architect in the state of Illinois and a member of the American Institute of Architects. She holds a bachelor’s of arts from Indiana University and a master’s of architecture from The Catholic University of America. She is an accredited professional in LEED and affiliated with many organizations including the Illinois Green Building Advisory Council and the Illinois Climate Change Advisory Group.
