The Westhampton Beach school district’s athletic department will have to wait for the much sought-after addition to its list of facilities. Administrators cited a tightening budget when they decided against pursuing the installation of a state-of-the-art synthetic turf field on the grounds of the high school.
Athletic Director Kathleen Masterson maintains that the viability of FieldTurf at Westhampton is strong yet the reality is its bill for $1.05 million cannot be picked up in the 2009-2010 budget given the economic state.
