The Ohio State Online Sports Turf Certificate is now available in its entirety for industry professionals to take.

OSU offers complete online sports turf certificate

The program covers issues pertinent to both warm and cool-season sports turf/athletic field managers. The full program consists of five certificates:

1. Soils & Water (basic soils & sands, drainage and renovation options)

2. Grasses (warm and cool-season)

3. Field Presentation, Mowing & Nutrition

4. Pests, Diseases and Weeds

5. Synthetic Turf

Industry professionals can pick & choose – take just one certificate, or all 5.  Each certificate consists of short audio slide-shows, quizzes, hands-on assignments and other helpful resources.

Who is this course for? This course is open to all industry professionals interested in learning more about athletic field/sports surface management.

Costs: Each certificate costs $125, or $625 for the full program. There is no strict deadline for completing the course because it is a flexible approach to online learning, but we do ask that students attempt to complete each certificate within 10 weeks. That way, students can keep on track.

Why online? This is not a correspondence course. The course is offered completely online, so there’s no need to drive to a campus or to buy a book. All the student needs is computer access and a willingness to learn! Students can access the course 24/7, so can learn at home, at work or anywhere else there is access to the Internet.

Why take the course? As a student at The Ohio State University, professionals get the most up-to-date and relevant education about sports turf management. In addition to the knowledge gained from this course, students are eligible for Ohio State Continuing Education credit and STMA CEUs. Successful candidates will receive an official document for each certificate completed and a wooden display plaque for the successful completion of the full program.
