MADISON COUNTY, MS—During maybe the busiest month of his year, Bobby Hall finds himself a little bit busier.
The Madison Central athletic director and football coach is searching for a site to play what is supposed to be his home opener Friday.
Madison Central’s switch from grass to artificial turf isn’t complete, and the field will be unplayable for the Jaguars’ game against McComb.
Hall met with Madison Central principal Edith Mitchell on Thursday morning to discuss a venue for the Sept. 12 game, but nothing was decided.
“We are waiting to hear back from venues,” Mitchell said.
After playing McComb, Madison Central travels to Tupelo. The next scheduled home game is Sept. 26 against Clinton and then Murrah the following Friday.
Madison Central’s $700,000 artificial turf project was scheduled to be finished July 29, just in time for football practice.
But the completion date was pushed back nearly a month to Aug. 28.
And Hall predicted it.
In mid-July, Hall told The Herald this about the original July 29 completion date: “I don’t believe that, but that’s what they told me.”
Now, Hall doesn’t “know when it will be” ready for play.
