FALLS CHURCH, VA—The Irrigation Association, recognizing the need for urgent action regarding increased fuel costs, joined the Coalition for Affordable American Energy (CAAE). The National Association of Wholesalers will act as the executive secretariat of the CAAE.
“Rising fuels costs mean rising operating costs for irrigation equipment manufacturers, distributors, contractors, and end users. This coalition is a great opportunity for the Irrigation Association to provide a strong voice for its members on energy issues,” said Deborah Hamlin, executive director of the IA.
The goal of CAAE is to provide a united voice for businesses affected by rising energy and fuel prices. CAAE members will encourage Congress and the Administration to act and take decisive, effective, and immediate action to greatly increase the development of domestic energy resources in an environmentally sensitive manner.
CAAE will support the exploration and development of domestic oil and natural gas supplies while promoting conservation of current energy resources and continued funding and research into renewable and alternative energy sources. CAAE will continue to lobby lawmakers to adapt these policies until an energy policy which meets these goals is enacted.
The Irrigation Association is the leading membership organization for irrigation equipment and system manufacturers, dealers, distributors, designers, consultants, contractors and end users. Originally founded in 1949, IA includes over 2,000 corporate and individual members and is dedicated to promoting efficient irrigation. For more information, visit www.irrigation.org.
