NFL gives Spartanburg High School $200,000 for field

SPARTANBURG, SC—For the past few years, there has been a brown patch of grass on the middle of the football practice field at Spartanburg High School where a lot of action takes place.

That won’t be the case next year. The ground will be as green as a rain forest.

Spartanburg High announced Friday that it has received a $200,000 grant from the NFL’s Grassroots Program that will help put artificial turf on the field. The Carolina Panthers were the school’s sponsor in the program.

“I can’t wait. It’s like having a Christmas present that you can’t open yet,” Athletic Director Myles Wilson said.
