MONTREAL, CANADA—Christine Sinclair, Canada’s most prolific women’s soccer player, has joined the FieldTurf team in order to continue the growth of soccer in Canada. Her extensive international experience and unparalleled team and individual success will go a long way towards ensuring that facilities nationwide can raise the bar with FieldTurf pitches that have already revolutionized the world’s most popular sport.
Christine’s accomplishments as a soccer player are endless and will serve her well in her new role. She was 16 years old when she won her first cap with Canada’s senior team in 2000. She was a FIFA U-20 Silver medallist in 2002, the FIFA Nominated Player of the Year for 2005 and 2006, the 2005 Canadian Female player of the year, and she won the Hermann Trophy two years in a row in 2004-2005, a trophy that is awarded annually to the U.S. top male and female college soccer players. Christine is regarded as one of the top female footballers worldwide and is the leading goal scorer in Canadian women’s soccer history.
“It is exciting for me to join FieldTurf because they have single-handedly changed the negative perception of artificial turf with such a player-friendly product,” said Sinclair. “I have personally played on FieldTurf many times and can say from experience that FieldTurf surfaces allow the game to be decided based on skill and strategy, and not poor playing conditions. I have been involved with a few winning teams myself and I certainly look forward to continuing the improvement of field conditions on soccer pitches nationwide.”

In recent years, Sinclair won the 2006 W-League championship with the Vancouver Whitecaps and was named the BCSA Senior Athlete of the Year 3 times. She finished second with Canada at the 2006 CONCACAF Gold Cup while being named the 2006 Canadian Female Player of the Year. Christine represented Canada at the FIFA Women’s World Cup China 2007 where she had three goals in three matches and finished second with Canada at the 2008 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualification Tournament.
