BCA Award winners selected

Profile Products and its Turface AthleticsTM business unit recently announced the award winners of two annual awards for the Baseball Coaches Association (BCA).
The BCA Groundskeeper/Field of the Year Award was presented to Tim Saunders of Dublin Coffman High School in Dublin, Ohio. The award is given in recognition of outstanding field maintenance practices and high quality playing fields. As a winner of the award, Saunders and his school will receive one free ton of Turface® MVP® along with a check in the amount of $400 to be used for maintenance materials and equipment. Saunders was chosen among eight finalists who were recognized at the district level for outstanding field maintenance.
The BCA Grant Award was given to Bob Figaro of St. Clairsville Junior Sports, in St. Clairsville, Ohio. Figaro and the junior sports league will receive three free tons of Turface MVP along with a grant in 2008 in the amount of $250 to be used for field maintenance, which will be followed by a second $250 grant in 2009.
Figaro oversees the maintenance of nine fields for the non-profit organization, which has baseball and softball leagues for participants ranging in age from 5 to 16. The fields are host to the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference tournament each spring, along with leagues throughout the spring and summer seasons.
“Our organization has been around for the past 30 years now, and we’ve worked hard to provide the kids the best fields possible,” said Figaro. “This grant is very meaningful to the league and will be a great help in maintaining the high quality we want on our fields.”
Both award winners will receive product from Central Farm & Garden–a distributor of Turface® products based out of Wooster, Ohio. Turface Athletics has a longstanding commitment to improving the safety and playability of athletic fields across the nation. Turface Athletics is the presenting sponsor of the Keep America PlayingTM Tour–an educational initiative designed to bring instruction to parents, coaches, groundskeepers, and parent volunteers on best practices in constructing and maintaining sports fields.
